Dental Implants in Bronx, NY
Highly durable, a dental implant restores your smile and eliminates dietary restrictions by replacing an unrepairable or missing tooth. An implant consists of three parts: a titanium post, an abutment, and a crown. The post is placed within the jaw and permanently fuses with the bone, a process called osseointegration. The abutment fits inside the post and connects it to the crown, which looks and feels exactly like a natural tooth. We provide L-PRF bone grafting and utilize Osstell IDX technology to customize the implant treatment plan to the individual patient.
What is an L-PRF bone graft and why do we use it?
Leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) is an advanced technique in which we use your blood to create personalized bone grafting material for superior implant integration. This treatment promotes bone regrowth and accelerated healing without comprising bone quality.

What is the process of getting a dental implant?
The process of getting a dental implant can be broken down into the following stages:
- Consultation: We gather information, such as your medical and dental history. If applicable, we determine whether or not we need to extract the damaged tooth. We also evaluate your jaw’s bone mass to decide whether or not you will need a bone graft. Then, we discuss treatment and budget options to create your treatment plan.
- L-PRF Bone Grafting (if needed): Patients who have been missing a tooth for more than a month usually require a bone graft, as they lack the sufficient jaw density to support an implant. If you do need a bone graft, your healing time for this stage alone can range from 3 to 6 months.
- Post-placement: Surgery (placing the post) only takes 1-2 hours. Healing time for osseointegration alone can also take 3 to 6 months. Once the post is placed, we use Osstell IDX technology to measure your initial bone density, which will be compared to an additional measurement taken before the expected final placement date.
- Final placement for Abutment and Crown: Abutment and crown placement is typically completed by a dentist. It usually takes two visits approximately two weeks apart.
How long does it take to get a dental implant?
It depends on the patient’s needs and recovery time, characteristically taking 5 to 8 months.
Why Osstell IDX technology, and how does our practice us it?
Osstell IDX is a machine that measures your implant’s stability, allowing our team to assess the progress of osseointegration within your jaw. It provides accurate, objective data and does not hinder the healing process, as it is non-invasive. We use this machine to help us determine whether or not it is safe to place the permanent abutment and crown. Also, by checking on the progress of osseointegration at regular intervals, your total treatment time can be shortened if you heal more quickly than expected, and we’re able to place the final crown early!
